Getting diagnosed with womb cancer

You usually start by seeing your GP if you have symptoms that could be due to womb cancer. They will ask you about your general health and may also examine you.

Your doctor will then decide whether to do tests or refer you to a specialist.

Seeing your GP when you have symptoms of womb cancer

You should see your doctor if you notice a change that isn't normal for you. Or if you have any of the possible signs and symptoms of cancer.

Referral to a specialist for symptoms of womb cancer

Your GP should arrange for you to see a specialist if you have symptoms that could be due to womb cancer.

Screening for womb cancer

Screening means testing people for early stages of a disease. This is before they have any symptoms. There is no national screening programme for womb cancer in the UK.

Tests for womb cancer

You have a number of tests to check for womb cancer. The tests you might have include an ultrasound scan and a womb biopsy.
