Getting diagnosed with penile cancer

You usually start by seeing your GP if you have symptoms that could be due to penile cancer. They will ask you about your general health and may also examine you.

Your doctor will then decide whether to do tests or refer you to a specialist.

Seeing your GP when you have symptoms of penile cancer

See your GP if you notice a change that isn't normal for you. Or if you have any of the possible signs and symptoms of penile cancer. 

Referral to a specialist for symptoms of penile cancer

Your GP might arrange for you to see a specialist if you have symptoms that could be due to penile cancer. This is usually a urologist. 

Screening for penile cancer

There is no national screening programme for penile cancer in the UK. 

Tests for penile cancer

You have a number of tests to check for penile cancer. These may include blood tests, scans and a biopsy.
